The World Oceans Collection

The World Oceans Collection is a year-long collaboration between Van Dieman’s Ink and Pen Chalet, celebrating the vastness, diversity, and quiet power of the world’s oceans. Each release explores a single ocean or sea through colour, movement, and light, expressed in carefully formulated fountain pen inks.

Designed as a cohesive series, the collection pairs a unified nautical box with distinctive bottle labels that allow each ink to speak for itself. Flowing currents, shifting depths, and reflective shimmer echo the way oceans move and change, from tranquil shallows to immense, unknowable depths.

Every ink is handmade in Tasmania using distilled Tasmanian water, crafted to balance beauty with reliable everyday performance.

Pacific Ocean

The Pacific Ocean is the heart of this collection. Vast, ancient, and endlessly varied, it holds volcanic fire, coral gardens, deep trenches, and open blue horizons. These inks draw from the Pacific’s extremes, capturing both its calm surface and the powerful forces beneath.

Pacific – Giant Pacific Octopus

Inspired by one of the Pacific’s most intelligent and enigmatic inhabitants, Giant Pacific Octopus is an ink of shadow, movement, and subtle complexity.

A muted mauve-purple grey base shifts across the page, revealing cooler blue undertones and warmer plum notes as it dries. The swatch shows organic separation, with darker tendrils forming along edges like arms moving through water. There is no overt shimmer here. The interest comes from depth and tonal variation.

This ink feels alive on the page, restrained but expressive, much like the creature that inspired it.
